BUCKINGHAM COUNTY (WRIC) – Virginia State Police are still investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning that claimed three lives. Virginia State Police were called to the scene at 12:15 a.m. on Route 15, less than a mile north of Route 620, in Buckingham County.
An Infiniti G35 was traveling south on Route 15 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the left side of the road. The car then struck several trees. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car.
The driver, Corey O. Garrett, 40, of Dillwyn, Va., died at the scene.
Two passengers also died at the scene: Anthony G. Foster, 44, of Cumberland, Va., and Thomas D. Goode, 4, of Cumberland, Va. Foster was wearing a seat belt and Goode was secured in a child safety seat.
The crash remains under investigation.
Route 15 was re-opened shortly after 3 a.m.
