Fredericksburg 7-Eleven Clerk Stabbed During Attempted Robbery

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC)—An overnight clerk at a Fredericksburg 7-Eleven is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed during an attempted robbery outside the store early Thursday morning.

Around 3:25 a.m. on March 20, the 31-year-old victim was sweeping the sidewalk outside the 7-Eleven at 1240 Jefferson Davis Highway when an unknown black male approached him from behind. The suspect demanded money and stabbed the clerk in the lower torso when he denied having any cash.

The suspect ran from the scene. The injured clerk managed to make it back inside the 7-Eleven, lock the door and call 911. The victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is under 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs less than 220 pounds. He is approximately 25 to 30 years old and wore a black hoodie and jeans at the time of the attempted robbery and stabbing. He was last seen running away from the store on Augustine Avenue.

Fredericksburg Police and University of Mary Washington Police searched the area extensively. A police K9 also ran a track from the crime scene, but the suspect has not yet been located.
