Positively Richmond: Kersey Creek Elementary School

HANOVER (WRIC) – A video
from a Hanover elementary school could win a $10,000 dollar prize in a national
contest.

Kersey Creek Elementary
School's entry in Scottie's Tissue's Trees Rock Contest is one of 12 national
finalists. The video that gets the most votes online between now and February
14 gets the money.

“It's mostly about us
liking trees and how important they are,” says Nicholas Andrews. “And we did a
whole thing about what the garden can do for us what the money can do.”

The kids would spend the
money on tools and infrastructure and improvements.

“Oh, it would be wonderful,”
says Julie Hendricks. “Our garden is a great environment for our children to go
outside in. We call it our outdoor classroom.”

There's also another goal
for the Garden Coordinators: healthy eating.

“If they could plant, grow
and harvest their own crop from beginning to end they'd be more likely to eat
their vegetables.”

“Our garden's wonderful
but we want to make it better so vote Scotties Trees Rock Kersey Creek,” says
Lainie Loucas.

“It's just a matter of a
few hundred votes so if you could get out there and vote for us logon once a
day to scottiestreesrock.com.
