Man Charged in Hopewell Residential Armed Robbery

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC)—A Hopewell man
was arrested just hours after robbing a woman in their own home and threatening
her with a gun on Friday.

At 8:20 a.m. on Feb. 7, a man
confronted a female victim with a handgun at their residence on the 500 block
of Manchester Court. He stole multiple items, including electronic equipment,
then fled on foot.

The victim, who police say was not
chosen at random, jumped from a window to escape and injured her ankle.

A few hours later, at 1:20 p.m.,
22-year-old Hashaad Austin of Hopewell was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery,
Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Brandishing a Firearm and Grand

Austin is being held at Riverside
Regional Jail without bond.
