RICHMOND (WRIC) – Richmond Public Utilities crews have been working to fix a water main break in Richmond all day Thursday and as a result, 2nd Street between Cary and Canal has been closed to traffic.
Crews have been out here since 9 a.m. and water has recently been restored.
Meanwhile businesses in the area had to work around not having any water.
Cateraid's kitchen in Richmond is usually busy sizzling with sounds of food cooking.
But today business wass a little dry. Owner Bobby Butsavage says they've been out of water since 10 a.m.
“We had to send everybody home, and we're just doing office work,” he says. “Without water we really can't do much business at all here.”
His was one of several buildings without water due to this water main break on 2nd Street.
Public utilities crews have been working to drain the excess water for hours. Once they did that, they started working on repairing the actual main.
