RICHMOND (WRIC)—The Henrico County Police Division, in conjunction with VCU Police, has charged a man in connection with a series of recent car thefts on and around Virginia Commonwealth University's MCV campus.
William Eric Chambers, 38, of Richmond, has been arraigned on 12 felony arrest warrants, including five counts of auto theft, four counts of grand larceny, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of burglarious tools and felony eluding of police. He was arrested on Friday, Jan. 10.
Chambers is incarcerated at Henrico County Jail, and is awaiting a preliminary hearing. He is expected to face additional charges brought by VCU Police and other localities.
VCU Police said in a statement on Wednesday, “VCU Police led the extensive investigation that identified Chambers and led to his capture. Exceptional cooperation from regional partners, including Henrico Police and Richmond Police, as well as information from the public, was critical in apprehending Chambers and ending his crime spree.”
