HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—By a unanimous 5-0 vote, the Henrico County School Board has named Acting Superintendent Patrick Kinlaw as its new superintendent.
Kinlaw has been acting superintendent since August 2013, when then-Superintendent Patrick Russo was put on paid administrative leave. The school board reached a settlement with Russo in November 2013, buying out the remaining 18 months of his contract for more than $186,000.
“Dr. Kinlaw has proven to be the right person at the right time to lead
us to the next level of greatness,” said new School Board Chair Lisa A.
Marshall in a statement. “His blend of experience, leadership, and skill
make him the best choice for this incredibly important position.”
Kinlaw is a longtime Henrico County Public Schools administrator who has been a teacher, principal and magnet school director in his nearly four decades as an educator.
