STEWED TOMATOES WITH ORANGE

4 servings

1 (14 to 16-ounce) can stewed tomatoes or tomatoes wedges or diced tomatoes,
including liquid
¼ cup orange juice
1 garlic clove,
peeled and minced (optional)
1/3 cup chopped peeled onion
1/3 cup chopped green pepper

1 tablespoon freshly grated orange peel (optional)

1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce or to taste
4 to 5 drops hot pepper sauce or to taste

Pinch of sugar or to taste
Salt
and freshly ground black pepper to taste

In a medium heavy saucepan, combine all ingredients, mixing well. Cook, stirring constantly, over moderate heat, until mixture is thickened, translucent, and bubbly hot. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve immediately
