8News Viewers Donate Items to Families Displaced in Fire

CHESTERFIELD (WRIC) – Two families – including five children – lost everything when their apartment caught on fire last week.

And when we told you their stories, many of you started calling our newsroom and emailing trying to help out.

One of those families, Marcell Water and his fiance, has two people who are hearing impaired and they need a TV to communicate.

One man who didn't want to show his face said he had a TV, so some of our 8News staff went to pick it up.

“It's that time of season,” he says. “So since we are more fortunate, we'll help.”

When we pulled up to the new apartment, the 8news crew no longer had to do the heavy lifting. The family was so grateful, they came out and took over the hard work.

“We are just so thankful that people are helping.”

And when we dropped off the TV, it was perfect timing because the cable company was there ready to set-up.

“We are so thankful from the bottom of my heart.”

People have been calling to donate not only TVs, but also furniture, clothes and toys.

Remember there are two families who lost everything – including a mother and her two sons.
