Steakhouse Employees Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Restaurant

RICHMOND (WRIC)—Richmond Police are searching for two suspects who robbed two Kobe Japanese Steaks and Sushi employees on Tuesday night.

Around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, two employees were outside the restaurant at 19 S. 13th St. when they were approached by two men dressed in black clothing. One of the men had a shotgun. The suspects stole a phone and wallet from one of the employees and were last seen heading toward East Main Street. No injuries have been reported.

“With the hood…just walking by…even greeted them…said what's up and walked by. My employees said what's up…two seconds later…they came back and pulled out a gun and asked them to empty their pockets,” says Ian Sun, owner of Kobe.

Other restaurant owners can't believe what happened.

“We've been here for 19 years,” says La Grotta owner Andrea Capece. “We have never had any problems.”

Ian Sun says he put in new lights in earlier today and he's working to have security cameras installed in the alley to prevent another robbery.

Anyone with information should call crime stoppers at 780-1000.
