RICHMOND (WRIC)—Fire crews performed a water rescue early Thursday morning after a car landed in the water near the Mayo Bridge.
Around 3 a.m. on Oct. 17, the driver of a red Toyota sedan ran his car off the road near Hull Street and Manchester Road, just past the Mayo Bridge. The vehicle hit the guardrail and crashed into the water.
The driver was able to exit the car safely, but Richmond Fire performed a water rescue to confirm that no other passengers were trapped.
The driver, who has been charged with DUI, was taken to the hospital; his injuries are unknown at this time.
