Raccoon Found in Henrico Tests Positive for Rabies

HENRICO – On Monday, September 23, Henrico Police Animal Protection received a call for service for a dog fighting with a raccoon in the 7600 block of South Pinehill Drive.

The remains of the raccoon were retrieved and submitted to the State Lab for testing, where the animal tested positive for rabies.

The dog exposed to the raccoon had a current rabies vaccination and will be quarantined for 45 days.  There were no other animal or human exposures reported.
