GOOCHLAND – Annette Thompson agreed to give up 50 of her dogs in court Friday morning.
In exchange, animal cruelty charges will be dropped against her. Authorities removed the animals from her property Friday afternoon and took them to new homes.
The Richmond SPCA received nine of Thompson's dogs. The rest are going to other organizations.
She was charged with animal cruelty after authorities found dozens of dogs on her property back in April.
Thompson can keep three dogs and two cats on her property but those that were removed need a lot of work.
“These dogs have been in a very difficult situation for a very long time where they have not gotten adequate care,” says Robin Starr of the Richmond SPCA.
