NASA to Teach NASCAR Fans About Moon Mission

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) – NASCAR fans in Virginia will have an opportunity to learn about an upcoming NASA mission to the moon during races at Richmond International Raceway.
    
NASA's Langley Research Center says education specialists will be at Richmond International Raceway on Friday and Saturday.
    
NASA officials will speak with the public about the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, which is set to launch from Wallops Island on Friday night. NASA says Richmond International Raceway is a designated viewing area for the LADEE lift-off.
    
The robotic mission will orbit the moon to gather information about the lunar atmosphere, conditions near the surface and environmental influences on lunar dust.
    
A model of the LADEE spacecraft will also be on hand at Richmond International Raceway for the public to view.
