Randy Taylor Denied Bond in Alexis Murphy Case

NELSON – Alexis
Murphy's aunt seeing Randy Taylor at his bond hearing today is the first time
anyone from the teen's family saw in person the man accused of abducting her.

“This is
not about me and it's not about Randy Allen Taylor, this is about Alexis and we
just need to keep that focus,” says Trina Murphy. “It was difficult and that's
all I'm going to say.”

The
hearing was closed as the Commonwealth's Attorney presented some of the
evidence they have against Taylor.

The
public was only allowed to listen to parts of Taylor's bond hearing arguing
making that information public could affect the investigation and a fair trial.

Based on the evidence presented by the Commonwealth; and the defendant's prior record, Judge A. Ellen White, the presiding judge, denied Randy Taylor's request for bond and ordered that he continue to be held without bail.

Taylor waived his right to a preliminary hearing meaning that the case will go automatically to the Nelson County Circuit Court Grand Jury on September 24 at 9:30 a.m.

The grand jury will decide whether to indict Taylor for abduction.
