HENRICO, Va – At approximately 12:17 p.m. Saturday Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 64 westbound at the 183 mile marker near Glenside Drive in Henrico County.
Based on witnesses and the troopers investigation, the crash occurred after the left rear tire blew on a Jeep Cherokee causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway striking a sign.
The driver, who was wearing her safety belt, died at the scene.
The right lane was closed for approximately 70 minutes to allow for the on-going state police investigation.
Identity of the deceased is pending next of kin notification.
