RICHMOND, VA—Richmond Police are searching for three masked men who robbed a man and woman at gunpoint late Thursday night.
“It's a terrifying experience to see that a loved one was robbed at gunpoint right outside of your front steps,” said James Menefee, whose friend was a victim of the Thursday night robbery.
Menefee said his friend had just gotten of work when he and a woman were held up at gunpoint in their neighborhood.
Police say the three men were armed with a shotgun and a handgun when they robbed the pair in the 2600 block of East Franklin Street.
One of the men is accused of pushing the barrel of his shotgun against the woman's torso. The woman was not injured in the incident.
Richmond was plagued by a rash of armed robberies late Thursday. Three of the robberies happened within just blocks of each other in the Church Hill and Shockoe Bottom area. Two others occurred just a few miles up the road in the outskirts of VCU's campus.
“If they [the robberies] are related, it's not unusual, because typically it's just a couple of people who got it in their minds to do it and they don't stop at one,” said Sgt. Ethan Rhodenizer with the Richmond Police Department.
Anyone with information about either crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
