There are more than 8 million children in America without a pediatrician in their area, and if your child suffers from an illness and needs to see a specialist, the numbers are even worse.

The shortage means some kids have to wait months and months to get an appointment, and their parents have to drive hours away, sometimes even crossing state lines to get their kids to the doctor.
We sit down with a Fort Lee mother who drives 60 miles to Richmond to take her son to dialysis treatments. They make the long commute four times a week.
