RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – A new trial date has been set for a Richmond woman charged in the death of her 2-year-old son.

A three-day jury trial for Ashley C. Williams is scheduled to begin May 20 in Richmond Circuit Court, The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

Authorities say the 27-year-old defendant's son, D'Sean Williams, weighed 14 pounds when he died of starvation and dehydration. Defense attorney Joseph D. Morrissey has said the child died of failure to thrive, a condition in which a child does not grow properly.

The case has been delayed several times. At one point, Williams pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and child abuse but later was allowed to withdraw her plea.
