Pedestrian Struck And Killed In Hanover

HANOVER, Va. – The Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian, which occurred last night at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Route 1 near Lewistown Road.

Preliminary investigation by the Sheriff's Office crash team indicates that a 2008 Lincoln 4 door SUV was traveling South on Route 1, just South of Lewistown Road, in the right travel lane when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was walking in or near the roadway. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this crash.

While the investigation continues, neither speed, nor alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this crash, and there are no charges pending at this time. Upon making the proper notification to the next-of-kin, the victim's name will be released.
