Gov. McDonnell Orders State Agencies To Prepare For Budget Cuts

Richmond, VA—Governor
Bob McDonnell ordered state agencies to prepare plans to cut their budgets
right away, citing a “fiscal cliff” that could cause a second recession.

State agencies were asked to reduce their operating budgets
by four percent. Agency heads must submit their plans for budget reductions by
November 21.

The memo states rising health care costs as one reason among
several for the mandatory cuts.
