Parents of Henrico elementary school students were presented two plans for a major redistricting during a meeting Thursday evening.
Henrico plans to open a new elementary school.
Under both plans, students from 11 different schools could be impacted as Henrico shifts boundaries to account for a new school in the West End, set to open next fall.
“The school board asked us to create maps that look quite different so they can see these different options,” said redistricting chairman Bill Panak.
Many parents are not happy with the options presented to them.
“We were under the impression we were not going to be impacted at all because our school is actually under capacity,” said parent Lori Gebhard, whose children attend Shady Grove Elementary.
Henrico schools stressed nothing is final and plans could change. The school board is expected to vote on a redistricting plan by December.
