Two men are in police custody after a bank heist in western Henrico County Thursday.

Henrico authorities said the men entered the BB&T at West Broad Street and Gaskins Road just before 10 a.m. Thursday. Henrico Police Lt. Jim Price said the suspects wore masks and openly brandished weapons in a “takeover” style robbery.

Price said all employees and customers complied with the suspects' requests. The alleged robbers left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a vehicle that was parked next door.

Based on 9-1-1 call descriptions, a plainclothes Henrico officer spotted the suspect vehicle and called for backup. Police executed a “controlled stop” in the London Towne Apartments on Parham Road and took the suspects into custody without incident.

Police have not released the names of the suspects. Investigators are trying to determine if the suspects might be connected to other area bank robberies.
