Police Identify Farmville Murder Victims

Authorities have officially identified all four victims of a quadruple homicide in Farmville.

Richard Alden Samuel McCroskey III is so far only charged with the murder of Mark Niederbrock, an Appomattox County pastor. However, McCroskey has been named the only suspect in all four murders.

Authorities identified the other victims Tuesday morning. Killed were:

-Mark Niederbrock, 50, of Farmville

-Dr. Debra Kelley, 53, of Farmville, a professor at Longwood University.

-Emma Niederbrock, 16, of Farmville

-Melanie Grace Wells, 18, of West Virginia.

Mark Niederbrock and Kelley were married, and owned the home where the victims were found Friday. Emma Niederbrock was Kelley and Mark Niederbrock's daughter. Wells was a friend of Emma's, visiting from West Virginia.

All four were determined to have died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Funeral arrangements for Mark Niederbrock have been made. The viewing will be held at Robinson Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The funeral will start at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Walker's Presbyterian Church in Appomattox.

Melanie Wells funeral is scheduled for Friday night in West Virginia.

Arrangements for Dr. Debra Kelly and Emma Niederbrock have not yet been announced. A memorial service is in the planning stages.

Authorities arrested McCroskey at the Richmond International Airport as he attempted to fly back to California. McCroskey was denied bond in a hearing Monday morning.

Authorities made the gruesome discovery of four bodies inside a home on First Avenue in Farmville Friday when they were called to the residence for a welfare check.

When they entered the house, a strong smell immediately caught the officers attention.

“Something appeared to be wrong and we discovered during the welfare check three bodies were in the residence. We went back out, got a search warrant, went in and discovered a fourth body,” says Captain Wade Stimpson with the Farmville Police Department.

The killings are believed to have been committed sometime after a Sept. 12 music festival in Michigan which McCroskey and the two youngest victims may have attended together.

The 20-year-old McCroskey is an aspiring rapper under the name Syko Sam in the horrorcore genre, which sets violent lyrics to hip-hop beats.
