Body Found In James River

Richmond Police and Richmond Fire crews recovered a body from the James River Wednesday morning.

According to a Richmond Fire Department spokesperson, the body was discovered by a boater around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Ancarows Landing, off of Brander Street. Crews recovered the body around 8:30 a.m.

Officials are looking into whether the body could be connected to a missing persons report filed late Tuesday night that prompted a search of the river in Richmond.

Officials have not said if foul play is suspected. The body has been taken to the Medical Examiner for identification, and the incident remains under investigation.
