Pan’s Labyrinth

In “Pan's Labyrinth,” a young Spanish girl creates a magical fantasy land to escape the harsh world she lives in towards the end of the Spanish Civil War. As it turns out, the mythological monsters in her fantasy world are nothing compared to the beast of a step-father who rules her real world.

It's either the scariest fairy tale I've ever seen or the prettiest nightmare ever.

Writer and director Guillermo del Toro has created a mind blowing fantasy world with some truly startling images.

The script needed some work to live up to the visuals but, I can't fault the set design or cinematography.

“Pan's Labyrinth” earns 3 out of 4 stars.
