Authorities are searching for a man who opened fire in a Fulton County, Georgia courtroom today, killing a judge, a court reporter and a deputy.
The judge, identified as Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes, and the court reporter were shot on the eighth floor of the courthouse before 9 am today. Two deputies were wounded, with one later dying at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Authorities identify the suspect as 34-year-old Brian Nichols. Nichols was in the courtroom for trial on rape charges. Reports indicate that he managed to grab a deputy's gun and began firing.
Dozens of schools in the area are on lock-down as the search for the suspect continues. It happened earlier this morning in the very heart of Atlanta. Police there are also saying the suspect has car jacked at least one car.
